ABOUT

About

Queen of the Alps is a clothing line under the brand Sophie & Co. designed and printed in Switzerland by me, Sophie Zeller.

I created all of my cows out of recycled jewelry and beads. Then a photo is taken and reproduced onto the shirts.

You ask, 'Hey Sophie - where did the idea for Queen of the Alps come from?'

Late every summer when I watch the cows descend from their high, alpine

pastures I always love to see their pride as they don their flowers. There is a distinct change in their attitudes when they are being prepared for the arduous hike down from their alpine meadows at the end of summer, where they will be welcomed by a crowd of cheering people that they love to impress. Your average cow - quite beautiful as she is -  turns into a sparkling diva in her mind's eye! I always imagined her thinking that her big special bell and her flower crown are like wearing a diamond tiara and a pearl necklace to her. And this is where the original artwork was inspired.

It was very important for me that we print on products that are made of certified, Fair Trade, 100 % Organic Cotton.

Organic cotton is grown without toxic chemicals, GMOs, pesticides or fertilizers which sustains the health of the soil, ecosystem and humans as it is safer for people to pick. To grow organic cotton, 88% less water and 62% less energy is used than to grow regular cotton. Organic Cotton uses 80% rain water, greatly reducing the pressure on local water sources, and since there are no chemicals the water stays clean and safe.

By buying one of our products, you invest in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil and happier and healthier farmers and garment workers.

Wash the shirt inside out at 40° to avoid cracking the print, no dryer and when ironing do not iron on the print otherwise place a cloth in-between the print and the iron.
